Fall Turkey Season is coming up in late October in New York and New Jersey. The Season in my area of NY has been pushed back to October 20th. It used to be October 1st.. Only 2 weeks in NY + 1 week in NJ. Anyway-- it does not happen very often- but sometimes I am in the right place at the right time as far as a Harvested corn field goes. A sea of Yellow waste corn and a Flock of Turkeys. What better sight!!! On a few occasions, I have called a Flock to my side and nailed a Jake or Jenny on the ground and followed up with a easy Wingshot. Unfortunately- the take in NY has been cut in half to 1 bird now. From October 1st on, I will be hunting Pheasants and believe me-- a Flying Fall Turkey is easy picking if you are a good Wingshot. Head down, lead, and follow through and a Plump young Turkey falls from the sky. And Hans down-- the best eating turkey is a nice plump 8lb Jenny.
I too enjoy Fall turkeys. Good luck

To be honest I am glad it is only one now and I also wish they would make it illegal to shoot hens bearded or otherwise.
last September i was early season goose hunting and i saw a huge tom a few time and he would gobble to my goose call. Of course turkey season was closed. When it opened there was no sigh of him. I did have a flock of birds come by me as i was bow hunting. They where eating nuts. I had fun watching them I might take one this fall. Two of my biggest birds have been taken in fall with a gobbler cluck on a glass call. Very rewarding.
I love Fall turkey hunting. :gobble: :gobble:
Right Old Timer-- the Gobbler Cluck on a Double Glass. I use that too. Gives that deep- Plunk. I like to give out 2 or 3 of those about 5 seconds apart.
