What is that extra piece you sometimes see advertised with a hen box. Its wooden and usually made to match the call.
It is a chalk holder.
As stated above. Chalk box . Makes a nice addition to the caller. :gobble: :gobble:
It has more than one purpose , it holds the chalk , and it also supports the lid from rubbing on the rails with the tie rope that comes with the call.... if you look at the chalk holder it has a curve shape ...

Yes that's what helps in keeping the hen box quiet while carrying it in the woods .. the chalk holder ...
Chalk box
On a hen box the cord or string will hold the lid in place but a chalkbox adds to a call. They will also keep someone who sits on a call from cracking a rail.
