Title: Stevens 940A
Post by: MISSISSIPPI Double beard on June 12, 2019, 11:22:27 AM
The first gun I ever hunted with was a 16 ga Stevens 940A. My father had 2 of them and that's what my twin and I cut our hunting teeth with. I found this 12 ga 940A a few weeks ago for $90. I figured I would try to find some 2 3/4 loads and see what kind of pattern I can get.

Cool, glad you found one I am sure it brings back fond memories. Hopefully you can make a few new ones. My first dedicated turkey gun was a Stevens model 94 36" Long Tom. I bought it when I was 12 with money from selling my feeder pigs my sow had raised. I lost it in a house fire I check gun broker from time to time looking for another.

The 940 was the first gun my dad ever purchased.  I still have it in my cabinet today and could never part ways with it.  It's hard to tell how many deer, turkey and squirrels that thing has killed.
