About to buy new choke for lil remmy 20 ga and was wondering if carlsons will give me 150 or 160+ in 10" circle at 40 yrds. If not, what's a good recomendation??
Thanks
It really just depends on your gun. I personally have a Winchester 1300 youth model with a 21-22" barrel and I've tried a Tightwad .570, a Carlsons .575, and a Hastings .562 in my gun and so far haven't broken 135 hits in the 10 at 40 yards. But, in some other guys guns that Hastings puts up 150+. It's all just whether your gun likes it or not.
It is a Remington 870 with a 21 in barrel if that helps
I have the same gun you are using and started with a carlsons .575. Patterns were good at 30 yards, nice and even, and decent at 40 yds, but I don't think I got the numbers you want with it at 40. I now have a remington super full tube in the gun shooting the federal 7's and it puts up better 10" numbers.
I debated switching even thought the SF numbers were higher the carlson was so even and full in a 20" circle at 30 yards I almost left it alone. You should probably try both tubes in your gun.
I have the Carlson .575 in my 870 youth
shooting the Federal #7 HW I'm getting 140-160 with a 21" barrel
