Not a very good president, but I do believe he was a good person...
His biggest concern was that he had not tagged out during the last week of the season:
"Carter's main concern was that he had not reached his limit on turkeys with the shooting season ending this week."
Guy is 94 years old, and still gettin' after em'... Politics aside, you got to appreciate that.
Yeah you've got to give him big kudo for that I am 71 and it gets a little tougher every year
Probably going to cause one of his fellow democrat's head to explode, him hunting with a gun.
Sounds like he's a decent person even though he's a Democrat.
I just hoping and praying I can go at 94!!
Maybe we can totally convert him, lol. He has some killer in him, maybe there is still hope. :funnyturkey:
I saw this lol. I do not think I would have voted for him even if I knew he was a turkey hunter, but it would have helped his cause. He was always busy trying to keep his brother out of trouble.
A Democrat that hunts is a national treasure! Hope he fills his tags next year
Didn't care for his politics, but seems like a decent guy. Glad he is ok.
Billy Beer may have been what caused the fall! lol
He fell as hard as the economy did under him. I do have a different outlook towards him now though. Never knew he hunted turkeys so even though he was a terrible president , he is a turkey hunter and thats a plus in my book.
PETA is already criticizing him.
Not that I would have ever voted for him... but Carter is an ol school Democrat.... which is a far cry from the nut case socialist representing that party now.

Hope I'm still hunting at 94.
He out lived his brother by 30 yrs.
Never voted for him but I'd take him over any Dem today
I never knew he hunted. He probably got disowned by the Democrat party now that they know he's a firearm owner. Democrats from that era aren't the same as today's Democrats.

Pretty sure a democrat that hunts is an oxymoron!
Took my dad who's 75 to Missouri for the 1st time of his life on a public land hunt. Hunted with him for the 1st two days to show him the lay of the land. Let him loose the 3rd day with his replaced ankle, heart stint, and aortic stint on the 3rd day with no luck. Went home to Mn to fill some obligations. Came back 2 days later and let him loose again and he filled one of his tags with a 3 plus year old Tom with 1 1/2" spurs and 10" beard.

Nope, I know of one other for sure. NM Senator Heinrich. Met him once through one of my wife's school functions. Very passionate about fishing, hunting, wildlife, and hunters rights. Lead sponsor of the 2015 Bipartisan Sportsman's Act. A lot of Dems could take a lesson from him. Maybe he's the exception that proves the rule.

Read and article a few years ago that Jimmy Carter went to Mongolia to fly fish for Taimen. On a trip back from Florida about 20 years ago made a detour through Plains and did a tour of his home town including his home, very non-pretentious, definitely worth the time.

A friend of mine went on a trip for Taimen in Mongolia. When he got there, he and his buddy were told that they would be sharing a ride out to the fishing camp with a VIP. It was Jimmy Carter. My friend told me that Carter was very friendly, gracious, and the real deal. Not long after the trip he received an inscribed book from Carter in the mail.

Piss on Jimmy Carter and any other Liberals. Has the nerve to hunt, or at least make it look like he does, but then back a lifetime of policies that oppose hunters and hunting. Typical two faced politician. I'd push his 94 year old a## to the ground and take his gun if I came across him in the woods. He's not man enough to own it.
Bahahahahaha!!
Keep at em Mr President! Impressive to be at them at 94. P

+1 for New Mexico Senator Heinrich. Meet him at the Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Rendezvous in Boise earlier this month. Very unassuming guy, just walking around, visiting the booths all by himself like any other Joe. I'm talking with him and could see 'Senator' on his nametag, but I just thought, "oh, state senator", until I googled him afterwards. I believe he was on one of the discussion panels.
I'm not looking to troll, but for those who honestly believe that because somebody is a registered Democrat, or anything other than a Republican, that they would never hunt or are inherently anti-hunting... well... frankly... I think you need to get out more. Or maybe turn off the TV? I've lived in 4 states, several "liberal" college towns and I can tell you, a politically left person who hunts is NOT a unicorn. There are plenty of them. I've had vegetarian friends who are totally cool with hunting (as long as you're eating what you shoot).
Took a good friend of mine on his first hunt this month. Forty-eight years old, southern California raised liberal and proud Democrat. I got him to take the hunter safety class, lent him my shotgun and some other clothing/gear. On the third(!) shooting opportunity I created for him that weekend, he finally pulled the trigger on a jake. He was overwhelmed by the whole experience and loved it! Now he's shopping for a rifle and we're discussing what elk unit to hunt.
Look, there's a lot of talk about the decline of hunting. Online addicted youth, more urban population, lack of land access are all part of it, I'm sure. But to have a mentality that hunting (shooting, fishing) is only something "my tribe" does... and to openly mock the 'others'... that really hurts the cause. That part of the problem is squarely on us. Enjoyment of the outdoors and eating healthy meat that came from your own action is something that, I've found, to be appealing across political ideology. Got a friend or acquaintance that doesn't hunt? See if you can't coax them to tag along on your next morning out. Maybe invite them for a weekend at deer camp, just to hang out. See where it goes. I've found hunting is not hard to sell if pitched properly. They just need a welcoming messenger, a little encouragement and proper mentoring. Just like most of us did when starting out.
OK, sorry to rant, just felt like that needed to be said.
Where are these hunting democrats when 2nd amendment issues are on the line.

No question, they are going to be voting in favor of some of the gun control legislation. For example, I know Heinrich voted for the ban on bump stocks and the ban on high capacity magazines. But when you have a Democrat that has grown up in a family with a rich hunting tradition and is actively engaged in hunting and shooting sports, they are much less likely to just automatically join any anti-gun legislation that comes along and perhaps have an opportunity to talk some sense into their congressional colleagues. And sometimes they'll even initiate positive steps that work in our favor. In Heinrich's case he voted for concealed carry reciprocity between states and co-sponsored the Firearms Interstate Commerce Reform Act and the Veterans' Heritage Firearms Act. His NRA rating is currently a B, I believe, but has been an A.

You're pathetic.

Principal, not politics. Something politicians, both D and R can't seem to find the courage to "stand" on.
Ah, the ole principal (sic) of violence toward those with whom we disagree. That's the very essence of why we have and need prisons.
