Post by: Old Gobbler on May 05, 2019, 09:01:22 PM
Allright guys ....I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve the site to benefit you guys ...the site is here for YOU ....your opinions and input are always valued ....with that said we have just surpased 14 thousand members and way ...way...more many  times folks who read it just like you read a magazine...it would be safe to assume anywhere from 5 to 10 times more than registered members after 11 solid years and no stopping us  now ... that enjoy Oldgobbler.com and YOU GUYS

if you have any suggestions as far as forum areas to create , you can post it right here , or even p.m. me and I'll appreciate your opinions

Thanks so much --Shannon Kely

I have to agree with Waynes world it's pretty hard to to improve on excellence I've only been a member for a short while but I really enjoy this site I believe it's the best one I've found and the best part is it's not trashy or argumentiv like many other hunting sites

Excellent site, Shannon. How about a sub-category dedicated to box calls?

Is there any way to have a youth hunters contest like we have an adults. There might not be enough for 9 member teams but maybe we could have 3-4 member teams. Heck maybe they could just have one team of youths and have them compete with the adults by the looks of some of the birds killed by youths this season.....
Might motivate more people to take kids out to.
This is an outstanding forum and thanks to you and your wife for making it so

Agree with the box hunter section and your hunter contest section. Not sure how it would be done but maybe being able to tag a member in a thread if you think they would have something to say on a subject or be interested in buying something?

I would like to see a limit on the number of times someone can bump their own post on a something for sell, there is one out now that the guy has bumped at lest 10 times.

I had 2 people that I suggested the site to today and they would not sign up because they were getting an insecure website warning so I checked on all my browsers and got the same message.

I second this....Outfitters review would be great. I've used this forum to choose every outfitter I've hunted with so far and have been successful on 100% of my hunts because of it and have had a great experience with them all.

I've noticed the "not secure" for the last couple week(s) ?? Maybe check on that OG?

Like:
the box call category
Guides & Outfitters (Maybe subcategory they can advertise in - with some $donation, of course)

Couple of thoughts:

1.  I would like a thread preview to pop up when hovering over a the title of a thread without actually having to click on the thread.  Some thread titles are intriguing but some are not.  So if you hover the mouse pointer over the thread title for a second a small portion of the content shows up.

2.  I would like to see a "new posts" link or something of that sort that has every category grouped into one area.  Maybe a "Gobbler Lounge" or something of that nature.   For instance, when I visit the site I don't necessarily want to scroll through every portion of the site, i.e. (General Discussion, Turkey Guns and Shooting, Turkey Guns Classifieds, etc.).  Rather, if there was a place that I could view everything in one section at once but then still go to those individual sections when I just want that particular information.

Just a couple of thoughts and I hope I was able to make it clear enough...

I think this could be because Old Gobbler is http, not https.
I too would really like to see this fixed.

On threads with more than one page, have an "all" button you can push beside the last page number. This will allow you to click one time and read all replies.

I'd like to see the contests for giveaways go back to random number posts instead of the "always online" version. I quit following the giveaways that posted in because of all the alerts for new posts in the contests we're driving me crazy.  I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth...I appreciate the opportunities.

Maybe a permanent thread for Reviews and help finding outfitters and guides. I see a lot of post asking for help with this. Bubba

Lots of good ideas here, box call and outfitter reviews are looking like the front runners. Keep it up Shannon, we have a great site here and we should all do as much as possible to further it. Thanks again Shannon. Now win the powerball so you can make calls full time  :funnyturkey:

I agree with the others with bringing bow hunting closer to the top as well as an outfitters section. I will never be able to use the second but I can see where it makes real good sense.

How bout a section to show who makes and sells calls. Maybe there could be an individual page for each call maker to display their calls.
