Title: Ported Choke tubes
Post by: kbbgood on April 24, 2019, 09:29:02 PM
Do the ported choke tubes like Kick's help with recoil and are they better then the factory tubes that come with the 870 turkeyguns. Mine is older that has the 23" barrel.

It's hard to say if they are any better. It just depends on the choke/load combination and the gun itself. A ported choke doesn't help much. Maybe a little bit.

In theory do ported chokes work? Maybe... but I don't think they help with much with actual felt recoil. If you're shooting a closed breach gun like an 870 with hotter turkey loads, the only thing that helps with recoil is the adrenaline from watching a bird come in on a string.

I've heard that if the ports are all on top or near the top it can help a little with recoil and muzzle rise.
