The hunting has been very quiet for me during this opening week hunted six days during this first week going four times with no gobbling activity. We had a big storm come through Friday night with tornado warnings for the area. I didn't expect to hear any gobbling but decided to go out Saturday anyway. At about six o clock I heard this bird gobble about three times on the roost, got within 100 yards of it and set up. I made one series of yelps on my mouth call and it never answered nor did it gobble on the ground, so I sat quietly and about an hour latter here he comes with four hens in full strut. Shot him at about 40 yards with federal heavyweight 7s out of my benelli sbe 2 and it never even flopped. 10.5 inch beard and one inch spurs. Very happy to be on the board and felt blessed to be able to harvest him. http://oi64.tinypic.com/jqp378.jpg

Congratulations. We hunted Caroline County Friday and Saturday and like you said it was quiet. We did see a Jake come out of the timber at 11:55 about 500 yards away.
