Well the last 9 days of the season are upon us here in Alabama. The woods have fallen silent. I've been tracking a couple birds but they haven't been responding. What do you change up last week of season? What have you found to work?
Birds were far more quiet yesterday for us... Heard a couple gobbles, but no hens.
I picked locations of previously known high traffic and did some subtle calling. Subtle clucks and contented yelps and purrs on a scratch box... Had a pair come in quiet in the morning (which were not shot at)...
Same tactics later in a different location and we did get a gobble or two, but the birds came in quiet again.
Also while moving later in the morning, I will do some gobbling before getting to or setting up in my spot... I believe that hearing a different bird gobble, often helps to get things started.
