Been checking every week and it I'm not seeing any reports from NY. Last year was a little better than the year before as far as gobbling. Seems the population is holding fairly good. One very encouraging thing was the amount of jakes I encountered. Hoping for a little more competition which will make for an increase in gobbling. Heading up to camp for most of May. Back and forth from Connecticut which has a increasing population after a drop off the last 5 or 6 years. Can't wait to hunt in NY ,much more woods to hunt and not as many hunters. Just not as many birds.
I just hope that the extensive snow fall this year did not set them back. I agree last year was a little better but it is still no way near what it was.
there's been some gobbling around my area, I wouldn't say it's great by any stretch !!!
Last weekend I was out listening and heard a fair amount... this morning for the youth hunt - poor weather and only a few gobbles
I have gone out back and tried calling but have not heard a thing. I only call at them here because you can't hunt them in the small village I am in.
