What would you pay for one if someone had one they would sell?
Bout $100.00. Its a Turkey vest in my eyes.

I thought the original asking price of $125 was more than I was willing to pay when they first came out. Should have bought several of them as a retirement fund.

I would probably pay $250.
I don't know what a dixon vest is. To me a vest is just a tool to carry my stuff. When I get ready to go just grab it and all my stuff is in it.
20,000 euros and I'll name my firstborn after you
$150 maybe - if NEW. $800-$1500... nope
If one is in good shape I think they are worth 300-350 bucks. That's double original price and I would definitely pay that just as a collectors item or I could hunt with it. I think they're cool and a sweet piece of turkey hunting memorabilia. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at that price. Just my two cents
Just depends if your rich and how bad you want the vest ....
Just another fad. The vest is really heavy there is no adjustment on the shoulder straps not worth a fraction of what's being paid.
You're wrong in saying that that vest is a fad. It has a cool story with it they have been sought after for years. Maybe too heavy to some. Some people want it for the collectors item factor.
I have posted it here before, I can see one of the first 100 of 1986 with all matching numbered call's and knife fetching big money. $850 for a high numbered vest without the seat cushion is wanting one awfully bad IMO.

Maybe if they had been made in the US I could see paying good money for one but $1000 for a used vest made oversees doesn't make sense to me.

Your wrong in thinking I don't know who the vest was named for and what the purpose of the limited edition was. It is still a fad made up of the newbies lol you could have bought 10 of them brand new for the prices people pay now. If you were turkey hunting when the vests came out it seems rediculous.
I've never held one to say what I would pay for it but I'm not a collector of vests. To a collector who really wants one the skys the limit it seems. I don't expect them to ever drop in value.
Yeah I'm thinking the people that have them now probly paid the 350 or so for them and will not sell unless it's just a crazy price. All the people that bought them new either loved them and would never sell or have already sold them. Price could get even crazier over the next few years

right... to say it's just a fad is ignorant.. but we expected nothing less
For how good they sell I would think someone would make and exact replica of the vest. Seems like everyone wants one.
I know that they are a collectors item but for a hunting purpose are they really that great of a vest? I've never seen one so I was just curious about that

I have 2 friends that wear them, one of whom bought it back when it was released. Neither one of them would ever sell it or hunt with a different vest. I guess to some they'd be considered heavy. Great structure and layout in my opinion. I've only just slid it on never wore it for more than 2-3 minutes.

Ignorants is talking up a turkey vest you don't even own or have ever hunted with. Nothing like the opinion of someone without any experience lol. There's a lot of that going around

Did you mean ignorance?
Just thought I'd chime in with about as useless a comment as I could, since you felt the need to do the same.
Dude you hop on every post on this forum with some bullshit negativity. You think you're hilarious. You're negotiable and you're not the least bit funny. You're a typical internet thug. Always talking or putting someone down. Probably can't hunt worth a damn anyway. I have spent plenty of time around the vest and if you can read I have worn one. I think they're nice. Appearantly so do a lot of others except you. That guy last week was right... this site would improve greatly without your shitty negative input.
That was a typo I meant negative not negotiable

For future reference, just hit the modify button on your post and fix it.
As for that guy:
Can't read, negative, internet thug. Spot on.

Thank you I'll keep that in mind, I'm sure I'll get kicked off the site for the profanity. But I know I'm not the only one tired of that guys bulls*it. Every single post I read I haven't seen one encouraging or promising post. Just him being negative or trying hard to be funny. Can't stand it.
hes commented something negative on everything I've posted since I've been on this site. yall may or may not know much about the dixon but yall are dead on on him. lol

I read just fine ,like I said no experience just an opinions. Just like I have an opinion the vest is not worth the amount being paid, and I've owned one and hunted with one.Not my problem you got butt hurt about a vest you've never owned, but it is funny, and your a crybaby!
Ahhh there ya go. Was just wondering if you were going to call me a cry baby or use the phrase butt hurt. That's usually your go to when someone calls you out for your constant negativity and all around uselessness on this page.
The item is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it
Get along folks....
I didn't care for using the Dixon vest for hunting. I thought the Longbeard was a better vest. Those shoulder straps would bind on clothing at the wrong time for me. No slip to them, just like the slings. Both of mine are packed away as collectibles.
I've worn one once and didn't really like it. Love the idea behind doing them and the the claw straps were neat. Just was heavy to me and didn't really like the layout. I would've bought one when they first released probably and gave it to a kid or something most likely.
I love the one I have. Hunted with it for the past 4 seasons. Here are the pros..
made of quality material so no fading streching out and just feels way more solid than any other vest by far.
Seat is super comfortable and thick. weigh about 180 and it never bottoms out after long sits. only vest I know of that can do that
all call pouches are surrounded by neoprene so if it rains all your expensive calls and striker stay dry!
All pockets are easy to get to and make sense
seat is magnetic or buckle
zippers are quality and never bind
vest is over 10 years old and hunted hundreds of times and still looks new
It does have some weight to it but feels like a minimal vest
back pads are great and not uncomfortable like alot of vest
lots of adjustment for fit
Best looking vest imo
These are the cons and all anyone can say about it
heavy. but maybe a pound heavier than the lightest vest. " I personally like the vest weight because it feels so secure when u wear it".
claw straps bind when it's time to shoot. Can kinda see this but not really. I have no problem with it
Not in full original bottomland. my biggest concern haha
All in all I dont think it can be beat
As was stated previously, they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
I bought one when they came out new, still have it, think the design is great, though hot and a bit heavy for how my hunting style has evolved since I first purchased it (more of a minimalist). I've owned a ton or vests over the years and have yet to find one built to that quality, and may never based on how most vests seems to be built today.
I will hang onto it simply because of the whole premise behind the vest, and the fact that I was fortunate enough many years ago to get to eat lunch with Bob Dixon himself. He was doing a seminar at a local sporting goods store, and I got to spend time with him and some of the folks from the store. My early turkey hunting years were spent watching the original Primos and Mossy Oak videos, which he was a big part of. We didn't have any turkeys to speak of on the places I had access to hunt at the time, nor did I really have anybody to teach me back then, as my father didn't turkey hunt at the time. So, I soaked up whatever knowledge I could gain from them (which was actually pretty good stuff since they didn't push many of the other gimmicks on the market today and just simply turkey hunted as I still do), hunted with whoever would invite me that had birds, and burned a ton of boot leather learning on my own. All that to say, getting to share a lunch with a guy like Bob was pretty darn cool to me at that time, and still would be today if he were around.
I've seen some of the high prices they command on eBay auctions, and don't view it any different from what some people pay for calls that they see as valuable.
I bought mine new when they were first released. It's been hunted hard and has seen its share of dead turkeys. I absolutely love mine. I was offered $800 for mine many moons ago and I didn't sell. It's my turkey vest. I'm going to wear it until it falls apart or I stop hunting. Neither of which I see happening anytime soon. I have zero complaints, maybe I'm just not that picky...
