Title: Headed to Texas in morning...
Post by: arrow1 on April 03, 2019, 09:27:10 PM
I went in 2007 for first time and harvested 2 Rios and again in 2011 with one nice Rio with an 11" beard 1 3/8" spurs.  Looking forward to getting 2019 Turkey Season kicked off in Texas with Rio #4 and #5.   May 1 in NY seems like forever from here. Good luck to all this season and safe hunting.

MY daughter and son heading down Texas tonite for a hog and maybe a turkey hunt.   Bow only private lease, they've taken plenty of birds but none with a bow so it will be interesting.   Keep us posted on your hunt with some some stories and pics.

Well got home from airport about 1am. We had a great hunt. All four of us killed 2 birds each. Lots of 2-4 year old birds. Very few jakes around. We were hunting about 10 miles from San Angelo, TX. The weather got good and we had birds gobbling all day. Met Rob Keck in airport going and leaving and enjoyed a couple brief conversations. I handed him my purple heartwood/cedar Steve Mann call and he ripped a  ouple yelps for the TSA. Lol. Yes we got some looks and laughed. Great trip!
