Title: Sons first Gobbler

Well today is a day I will never forget. After a miss on youth day 2 weeks ago my son connected on his first longbeard this morning.
We slipped in early on a small food plot that borders a cypress pond that generally has a Gobbler or two roosting over it. After hearing multiple birds gobbling in the distance I was beginning to doubt our setup. At about 7:05 this bird gobbled his one and only time.
He was surrounded by hens and after some soft talk on a Sneed Hot Hen the hens started into the food plot. After 12 hens came in he strutted into view. He made a perfect shot at 20 yards and the rest is history.
I would gladly never shoot another turkey if it meant I could see the joy my son had every hunt. It was a blessing and hopefully the first of many successful hunts that we share together.

Congratulations to the young man!! I was in your shoes last year with my 15 year old daughter when she killed her first gobbler! Great feeling for sure congrats to you as well!!

I know the feeling.  I would rather my daughter kill one than me any day.  I actually get more shook coaching her through the shot than talking myself through one, I get just as much excitement as if I killed it, and she gets all of that too, it doesn't get any better.

Congrats on a great bird, cherish those memories, they grow up fast.  My boy is 13 and I still love watching him shoot these birds.
