Title: type of surface in the pot of a H.S.Strut "Blacker Widow" friction call
Post by: bwromine on March 29, 2019, 05:19:24 PM
Greetings,
New turkey hunter. Recently found an H.S. Strut "Black Widow" friction pot which seems to have been discontinued. At-any-rate, I can't find information on the type surface (glass, slate, ceramic, etc.). Wondering if someone on the Forum would enlighten me on this. I would like to renew the surface but can't until it's composition is known. Also, I have read that an alcohol rub on glass and sandpaper on slate and, perhaps other pot surfaces, is recommended, while other writers have recommended sandpaper not be used on any pot surface.

Thank you in advance to any of you can help with this question.

I have one of those as well. It's a glass surface. I've always conditioned mine with high grit sandpaper. I don't know what is in it as far as a sound board though.
