Title: tote'n the 20 ga during turkey seasons from here on
Post by: kyhareraiser on April 30, 2011, 08:50:31 PM
well i was packin' a lighter load thru the hills on my turkey hunt today,a mossberg 500 /20ga. if i knew then what i know now,i'd used a 20 ga a long time ago to slay the toms with. my cousin has used a 20ga for years now and uses nuthin' else. on this mornings hunt,i took a gobbler down at 30 yards  and not even a flop.killed him stone cold dead, used hevi-shot #5 and hardly any recoil, matter fact i did'nt know if the shell had a load of shot in it because ,hardly any sound, and low recoil but i saw the bird hit the dirt and not a move did he make ..#1 bird down and 1 more to go

I've been thinking of doing the same thing myself.  However I have never felt any recoil when shooting at a bird.  Patterning is a whole nother story though!!!
