Great shell in #9 and a huge improvement over LBXR 3.5" #5. It's a game ch anger. My son and I call them Tom Bombs.
Shot my first one yesterday. All I can say is Wow. Shot count in ten inch circle at 40 yards doubled what I get with my old favorite Federal HW 7's. Incredibly high price but also an incredibly dense pattern.
Shot 3.5 apex 8s today at 40 with an IC choke and it's at least double what I was getting from hevi shot or long beard very lethal turkey load looking forward to hunting with them.
Do yourself a favor, put the 12G in the safe and get you a lightweight compact 20G. Couple it with TSS and your killing potential will still be better than any 12G with lead.
OH no now the LB cult is going come along and tell you about how tss is to expensive and they will never shoot it ect,ect,ect.

I'm always intrigued by the guys who buy an ultralight such and such 'to save weight' but are carrying an extra 20 lbs r more around their waists. ;D

Did you ever shoot it in your 12gauge guns? I have about $400 to spend in Cabelas points and I can't ever seem to find anything at Cabelas that I can't get for a better price or quality somewhere else.
For the two times I pull the trigger a year, I guess the price isn't so bad.
I don't own a 20 yet, but with the kids growing up there will be one in the future. Just too much love for my short barrel, spray painted, 25 year old 870 Express Mag. Not sure I can give it up as "My" gun.
Is there any reason at all to choose the 7s over the 9s?

Only if you hunt a state that doesn't allow smaller than #7s and you want to follow the rules.
Not if 9's are legal
It's some good stuff. My mossberg 500 threw a great pattern thru a full choke at 40 yards. Blew my mind.

You underestimate the LB crowd. We switched to LB because of how good it was compared to many other Turkey loads. Now that TSS is here to stay, many of the LB crowd will be switching over to Tss. I know I have. The patterns with my encore 20 g are beyond awesome. Never seen anything like it. As for the cost: its nothing once you are patterned. I only shoot three times a year. If factory is too expensive you can load your own.
The new federal tss loads....is here to stay , but be forewarned like every single Turkey shell ever marketed , it could change in makeup or product offering , be discontinued or may be in shortage ...so like all other Turkey shells if it works for you STOCK UP ...even though federal is a huge company they could change things up in the future ...
Over the years all new shells have the typical rollout , first the initial rollout , then hunters discover the refined choke diameter and brands that work best then word gets out ....
