i use a pot call mostly but then I'll use a mouth call when they get close to keep movement to a minimum
I like the pot call, but I use a diaphragm with it. I always have a mouth call in when using any other type of call..Mike
Slate.
i like a pot call the best for sound quality and volume, but if I only had 1 it would be a diapraph
Pot call.
Pot call 60 % box 30 % scratching n leaves 10 % pulling trigger priceless . :happy0064:
Diaphragm the vast majority of the time, followed by a slate.
Scratch box and a pot call made by Pappy for me.
I have started almost every bird since 1969 using a trumpet. A mouth call would be next, then a tube, slate, box, and natural voice.
Slate pot.
I'm surprised so few choose a box call, although I picked the wingbone as my favorite. Box calls have a real turkey sound to them, I feel, so I always have at least two with me, along with a couple of wing bones, pot calls, and too many other things in the vest.
Diaphragm......I told myself the other day I'm not even going to lug all the other calls into the woods anymore. All I'm taking is an Altoid can full of mouth calls. Will be nice not carrying all the weight. 99.9/10 of the time I use a diaphragm to call a bird in.
