Title: Beeswax Finish
Post by: killitngrillit on March 06, 2019, 01:18:21 PM
Saw a call maker on youtube finishing a pot call with 100 grit sand paper then applying some beeswax then burnishing with ivory and leather.  Anyone else do this?  Seems very simple and fast.  Is it durable?

No. Unless it's a naturally oily wood.  But a neat application method.  Not sure what the purpose of Ivory is.

Seems like hes putting a lot of pressure on the ivory kind of flattening the surface and heating it up thus melting the wax into the grain?

I'm thinking the ivory heats the wax up without burning the wood

I'll bet the wax rubs off quickly.   Bees wax is horrible for out door water repellent durability
