Ebay has several colors/thicknesses of the Theraband material, you can buy a 12" piece for a 1$ or so and will last a few years
What thickness do most people prefer?

That's up to the individual and sometimes the call design. I've tried the grey,white,red,yellow and green. The only tube I use any more is a Pappy Lewis Killer Keg I prefer the yellow on that call. I've owned others that sounded better with the white. Good thing is the stuffs so cheap you can try them all.
