Ive been huntin a small peice of property that i have permission to. ive had real bad luck, we wont go into the details. Any way im takin a buddy tommorow, on his first ever hunt. ive had this bird pinned for 3 weeks i could never seal the deal. he either flys down in a small cattle pasture ( which i have permission for) or he goes to a feild( i dont). my question is and is the only thing i have not done is, can i sneak in the cow pasture real early (5ish) and put my strutter decoy out, his roost tree is maybe 50 yards away soo i know he will see the decoy right off the bat, is that gonna screw me? ive had buddy tell me to do it, its the one thing i havent tried yet. i know i can sneak in a put the decoy i just dont want him to freak and go the other way, everyone i talked to said hell most likely fly right down to it ready to kick some !! What do you guys think?
I am by no means an expert but would say keep trying something different until he's tagged and bagged. :fud: You have a 50-50 shot. :anim_25:
Works for me!
If you can do it without getting busted, try it. If I were you, that decoy would be out there with two hens next to it and the gun pointed at them.
He'll fly straight down to the strutter and you'll kill him.

I'd give the strutter a try. My dad and I have had some great luck using ours.

I have used that tactic successfully several times.
