Was wondering what everyone's favorite strikers for red slate are?
My favorite on red is black locust or dymondwood, but red and green dont seem to be picky to me.

It depends on what you want out of your red slate....
I I want it to scream and really hit the high tones, yellowheart is nice.
To tone it down and do a nice sharp deeper yelp...i like a heavy exotic like katalox or ebony.
Snakewood gives it a nice raspy, sharp yelp too.
Great question Tom. I've got a red slate coming and was wondering the same thing. I understand red slate is harder than gray or green so I'm anxious to hear what others are using as well. I have numerous strikers in my arsenal and I will be experimenting when the call arrives.
IPE
Dymondwood and Snakewood.
I haven't found a decent striker that won't play turkey on it yet.

I agree with JLH, yellowheart is real nice. My favorite is macassar ebony. Next would be padauk, although it seems to slick up a lil quicker.
(I can only speak for my pots since every pot can like something different)

I been running a hickory and a osage on mine. Man , they sound really nice. Like a macassar also for a high nasely rasp.
I have a red slate in a cherry and maple laminate pot coming in a few weeks. Looking forward to trying a few of the different strikers you guys have mentioned.
