Title: Feathered Over Decoy Wraps
Post by: TM on February 03, 2019, 09:15:24 AM
Anyone used the decoy wraps from Away Products?  I carry a foam decoy with me.  Rarely use it, and when I have does not seem to get much attention.  Would consider purchasing a wrap others have found them effective.

Yes, I used them for years with the Cherokee Sports inflatables, only because those dekes had very realistic heads, and with the Turkey Skinz from Away Outdoors, it made for a lightweight, great looking decoy. The only knock to them is the glue they used to hold the feathers on was cheap and dried out after a couple of seasons, so the feathers started falling off. I hot glued them back on, and they worked fine.
I finally got tired of messing with them, and went out and got some DSD's. Here's a pic of one of my dekes.

That could be the problem. Those foam dekes look like crap, they don't shine iridescent like turkey feathers, the colors on the head are wrong, and they just look plain goofy and unrealistic.  :z-twocents:

Was that turkey killed with a straffing run from the shotgun mounted on the bike?

 No, that's my STAV. Stealth Turkey Attack Vehicle!!! ;D Many a gobbler has met its demise courtesy of it. There'd be a heck of a lot more dead ones if I could strafe with it!! :TooFunny:

Just checking: looked like a pretty serious piece of weaponry. I am planning on just getting a bicycle made of tss and running them over. I should get pretty good velocity downhill and they won't even flop.:)

Save yourself money and buy a DSD.

I myself never used or bought (fell into that gimmick catagory for me) but when they first came out in the store we sold A LOT of them, and we had A LOT of them get returned because they fell apart... didn't even last a season.

I gave him the same advice. I spent more time repairing them than using them. I use DSD's now and love them!!
