Title: South GA - Thomasville area - looking for information
Post by: JoeA on February 01, 2019, 03:06:51 PM
Hey gang!
I'm looking for spring turkey hunting information for south GA (FL panhandle too). I'll be in Thomasville during GA's spring season. Are there any WMA's or places I should consider? Avoid? Know any good guides/outfitters in the region? Any friendly landowners?
This will be my first longer visit to the area. I have driven through there few times. Attapulgus sticks out in my memory. Any hints or tips appreciated.

Good luck this spring! Bust a big one!

River Creek WMA is in Thomasville, but it'll take you 10+ years of building points to be selected to hunt it.

Lol not many turkey hunters would be willing to give up much if any info to people they know, let alone someone new with a dozen posts. You have to understand EVERY year this time a dozen or so people start an OG account have 0-10 posts and start in wanting info on such and such area WMA etc. Not Likely
This is not a turkey hunting directory service.

I've never hunted either area, but I did hear some FL panhandle area WMA's are closed this spring due to hurricane damage.  If you are interested in one in the panhandle you should check to see if it will be open.  Good luck!

Silver Lake WMA close to Lake Seminole or the Apalachee WMA should both be good areas. Hunted the lake area for deer once and saw some birds and plenty of sign. Not sure if you need quota permits there or not. In Florida I would try Eglin Field, it's huge and holds a good population of birds.
