Title: Longbeard #6
Post by: outdoorsmen on January 16, 2019, 09:58:07 AM
I'm doing early ordering for Turkey season. Got 2 boxes of LB 6 and a carlson tube. Gonna see how it does in my 21" 870

That's what I shoot out of my 11-87 12 gauge w 21" barrel and Banser choke. Great combo!

I used the Carlson longbeard XR .568 tube and #6 longbeardXR shells last year in my 20 ga 870 youth set up last year.  All three turkeys I harvested with it did not like it one bit!  Dead right there.  I noticed a big improvement in the pattern over the Win #5 I had used for years.

This year I am going to try some TSS #9 on some away from home hunts.

Here's some patterns from yesterday with LB #6 RR final strut .570. Using 870 20 ga 26 inch barrel

I also found grand slam #5 w/ FCW through the .570 to be possibly better than the LB #6 out to 30 yards. The LB were much better beyond this range though, no contest. So I'll probably carry both and use LB if I'm in a setup where more range is needed.
Here's the grand slams at 30

Nothing wrong with that at all.
