Title: Winchester 1300 “Turkey”
Post by: lowoctane on January 14, 2019, 04:23:50 PM
Managed to pick one up in black with a 22" barrel and going to use 3" Long Beards. Have quite a few chokes already am curious as to what's working. Any help will be appreciated!!! :camohat:

In case anyone is curious as to why I mentioned Long Beards, quite simply, they are great loads for my style of hunting and I have a dozen or so boxes of them...

Like most guns,  they are all about the same. I have (4) 1300 NWTF turkey guns.. I use the factory x full a lot of the time since most my shots are within 30 yards in the thick Fla junk.    When hunting out west, I use a little tighter choke for a longer poke.
I wouldn't be concerned about chokes.. shooting lead anything is your biggest restriction. I would shoot #7 HEVI shot at min.. TSS even better.

Jellyhead .660 on the end of my 1300. Shoots #5 lead and #7 Hevi lights out.

Indian Creek or Jebs. They are the ones winning the NWTF shooting championships every year with those shells. If you have the Jebs I'd say your good.
