I showed my dad some of the wonderful looking calls on this site this weekend when he was up turkey hunting. He was very impressed with them and said they were neat. I was planning on giving him a hint for Christmas that I would love to have one. Well tonight him and mom called saying that they looked at some calls but did not want to order one because they did not know what I wanted. So he said, pick one out and it is yours. I asked why and he said, "you love to turkey hunt and we want to get you a call." Now the hard part, picking out a call from one of the wonderful call makers on this site. What pot call would you pick?
Also, my mom called and told me what my dad said about me. He told her that I was the best hunter he has ever been in the woods with and that I have forgot more than some will learn. I can not believe he would say this because we know a lot of good woodsmen. It was an honor hearing that from him. I am very blessed to have great parents that support my hobbies of hunting and fishing.
Congrats! Definately a hard decision, good luck with ur choice
Congrats on the gift, and the love shown by your parents..Mike
May I suggest the ''Squealing Hen''. It's a dandy.. ;)
I would get the squealing hen but there was only one left at the store the other day so I am guessing it is gone.
what kind of pot you looking for , slate, glass, alum.?
Congrats on the call I'm sure it will be a good one for years to come just because it was from your parents no matter which one you pick! And you can never get enough support for the things you love to do!
I don't know what surface I want yet. I have 4 makers that when I see their calls make me say, I want one of those. I don't know if I should post their names or not. From what I have read, all of them are great guys and make great sounding calls. This is going to be very hard.
Warbird Makes great calls! I have a few and love each one of them. I also like my david halloran crystal mistress. Good Luck!
Write the four names down on a separate card put them face down do a good shuffle and pick one. I used Pappy and I am sure there are many here that can do the job for you. You will be pleased and I a sure any of the four would work with you if you did not like the call.
Glad to see your parents supporting you like that. Good luck with your choice. There are alot of great call makers here. I own a few from some of the call makers on here and they all sound great.

I have never seen or heard a hen being bread... is that like charades? Oh, you meant "bred"... just funnin' ya. ;D
You know I really hate seeing threads where someone ask for who makes the best this and the best that. It always creates some type of drama or heart burns between members. And if a call maker jumps in there and pimps himself or a pro-staffer pimps the guy he represents is way beyond tacky. All it does is turn into a popularity contest.
bird
Good point Bird. I guess I should ask that if you have a call to recommend, send me a message. I do not want hard feelings on this site.

sounds like your parents are great people and also the raised a good son.
I have a couple calls from people on this site and they are all good.
It would be a hard choice.
Best of luck with that choice.
Just a thought maybe pick 3 or 4 calls and let mom or dad make the final choice.
Lights out aluminum
David halloran slate
are the 2 I really want right now
I would go with Pappy. He does a great job, and his calls are very reasonable in price. I personally have 5 of his calls. If you are wanting a pot call I highly recomend a wild cherry dual purpose slate over glass with a osage striker........You can't go wrong with this recipe, lol.
Sounds like you got great parents ,, lot fine call makers here on this site :icon_thumright:
Why not take 3-5 call maker's YOU like, and write down the name and the type of call, and let your parents pick it out of those choices. That way it will still be a surprise, but in your wishes. I honestly don't think your gonna get a bad call from anyone that's been on this site for any length of time.
God Bless,
David B.

Good Karma!
Now the hard job is picking out a callmaker from whom you want a call...'cause it's a bunch of guys on here that make some sweet turkey callin' instruments!!!
Well I talked to my mom tonight and asked her if she was cool about this idea and she said yes. I thought it was something my dad came up with and did not talk to her about it. I then told her I would send some pictures and they could pick one out of the one I like. She said no, you pick out the one you want. I am getting a little closer to picking out the call maker.
