Title: Tulipwood & Cocobolo Trumpets- G2 Model
Post by: gergg on October 28, 2018, 06:26:28 PM
A new Tulipwood just finished today, I have showed this Cocobolo before, but added another picture of the sapwood side that was not included before. I knew Cocobolo made a great sounding trumpet, but this is my 2nd Tulipwood and this wood is fantastic as well....both are true rosewoods with similar density, so I guess it makes sense they are comparable tonally.

I appreciate the feedback, it was tough to figure out something a little different that still looked okay.

Which version of finish do you guys prefer on this Cocobolo.....the top picture has the sheen knocked off, the bottom pic is more glossy.

I like the looks of the top one better with the sheen knocked off, especially for hunting

No preference,  both finishes look fine.

In person the "dull" version still has lots of luster to it, I like both versions too, good news is it is easy to make them either way.

I think so too....I actually really like the look of Tulipwood, stuff is so beautiful, it makes a great trumpet tonewood as well.
