Well after three days of hunting where I live, we moved south 70 miles to mom and dad's place and hunted there for the holiday weekend. Dad and I were set up at 5 and heard our first gobble at 5:30. He gobbled but flew the wrong way off the limb. When on the ground, he would gobble every 15 min at about about 500 yards away. I kept calling every 10 minutes to keep busy and not fall asleep in the blind. It was hard to say awake with the rain hitting the blind. At 7 I put my head down for a few minutes to wake up with a hen at 10 yards. She walked off and entered the woods walking towards the tom. As soon as she hit the woods, I started calling with my mouth call and she lit up with a lot of yelping. This went on for 5 minuted then I said to my dad, I am going to use the shaker gobbler, we have nothing to lose. I started cutting and gobbled twice and the hen went wild. This sparked the tom to gobble at 500 yards away. I said she is going to help us or hurt us. Ten minutes later, she yelped and he gobbled about 100 yards away. I told dad to get the gun ready. Five minutes went by and I saw a white head pop up in the brush. I told him to get ready. The tom stepped up to the fence and looked at the decoys. I told dad to let it rip. With that, the 870 barked and the tom dropped and never moved until I picked him up. It was a 45 yard shot with #6 HeviShot out of my 3" 870. There was a little hole where he had to shoot and he made it happen. This is our first kill with HeviShot and I am impressed, the bird never moved. He was 23 lbs and had a 10.5:beard with 1 1/8"spurs that were very sharp. I called to him for 2 1/2 hours and it worked. (I did not hunt with white shoes, the pictures were taken after the bird dried off.)

Congrats to the both of you.. :you_rock:
It was one of the best turkey hunts of my life. I told him as we left the house, that I was going to call one in for him. When we set up I said, it will come out by that bush and that is right where it died.
Congrats to you both. Good bird.
