Title: SBE II or M2
Post by: chipper on April 24, 2011, 03:10:28 PM
I shouldered a Bennelli M2 at the store the other day day and loved the way it fit me and now am considering getting rid of my SX3 and buying one if it were you and of the 3 guns which would you have ? I really like the SX3 but it is the 2nd one I,ve had and both shot about 4 inches high of point of aim. I'm considering the Benelli as a replacement gun but don't know if I want a M2 or the more expensive 3.5 inch capable SBE II.

Well I know from experience the sbe 2 probably won't be dead on mine shot to the left, my regular sbe shot to the left also.

I also considered both models but ended up purchasing an SBEII for the ability to shot 3 1/2" shells. My gun saw alot of hours and many, many spent rounds in duck and goose blinds this fall and performed flawlessly!

As far as POA/POI, mine was perfect right out of the box.

M2 will work just fine - absolutely no need for 3.5s anymore.  We shoot big geese here all season, 3's kill 'em plenty dead.

I purchased the M2 12 gauge because I like the 3" shells. I just bought a new SuperNova and I will still shoot the 3" loads in it too. Also, try shouldering the M2 20 gauge...They are one heck of a turkey stick. Benelli's are awesome shotguns which ever one you choose.  Have fun.

Purchase whatever "fits" you best. I prefer the SBE 2 however. I'm a big fan of 3 1/2" shells.

I have the SBE I and the M2 Tactical.  The M2 Tactical is light weight, easy to maneuver and has a wicked pattern at 40 yards.

For long range hunting in open woods, with far shots, I'd use the SBE I, it patterns well out to 60 yards. However, it has the forcing cone lengthened, and the barrel has been ported. Both guns have the patterns posted on the boards. The SBE I hasn't been used this season.

God Bless,
David B.

You won't go wrong with any Benelli. That said, I would also like to own an SX3. PM me if you decide to sell it. I bought an SBEII last fall and it was a duck and goose killer at all ranges with patternmaster chokes. I bought a Rhino choke for it this spring and POI is dead on.
