I'm doing a 20 ga. turkey gun build and am looking for suggestions on a green dot sight. I have a red/green color deficiency, so red dots are out. I had a bad experience with a TruGlo green dot a few years back, so those are out as well. I replaced that TruJunk scope with a Trijicon RMR, which I love, but it's pretty expensive, and I don't want to spend more on the scope than the gun build. So what are y'alls suggestions for a top quality, green dot scope?
Thanks for your help!! :icon_thumright:
vortex strike fire 2. cant beat it for the money
Bushnell Trophy comes with red and/or green. About half the cost of a strikefire II and I've run two for years. If my 835 didn't knock one off over the 12 years I used it as my primary, I'm confident a 20 can't.
The Trophy comes with a sunshade, a feature I really like.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll check into those. :icon_thumright:

David, I'm building one like LT let me use that day at the WMA. It's a H&R Topper in 20 ga. I already bought all the pieces/parts to do the build, and just need to get optics before I proceed with the build.
I replaced my truglos with vortex venoms and have been running them hard for two seasons without any issue. They are lightweight, have good battery life, and stay zeroed.

I use Truglo but have it from a reliable source that you're not real fond of them!

Again, thanks for your suggestions guys!! :icon_thumright:
Anther vote for vortex venom.
Gentlemen, as noted I have a color deficiency in my eyes, and cannot see a red dot on bright, sunny days. I need to get a green dot. I searched high and low, and cannot find a Vortex Venom in green dot, only red. If Vortex makes a green one, can someone please provide me a link? Same with the Bushnell Trophy. I've even gone to their websites, and only found red ones. :help:
I thought that they made a green one but was not certain. I used red dots and had a venom and know its very reliable and durable. I went back to a simmons pro diamond scope. I prefer cross hairs and no batteries over the dot. I hope you can find a green dot optic that meets your needs. Good luck.
Basically, I'm trying to limit the cost of my optics. After my Truglo debacle, I went on a friend's advice and got a Trijicon Dual Illumination RMR. Love the sight :love5: but not the price!! :o Nice thing about the dual illumination feature is it uses tritium for low light and fiber optics for brighter light. No need for batteries!! :icon_thumright:
Previously I had an old pistol scope mounted to the barrel. Worked fantastic for years until it finally gave up the ghost under the weight of too many 12 gauge 3-1/2" turkey loads. From there I went with a Truglo but it was a disaster. The one thing I took from the Truglo, and since with the Trijicon RMR, is I love the ease of using an open dot sight vs. a standard scope.
Thanks for your help guys.
You found a good one. Didn't know they came in green dot. Hope it slays lots of birds for you. :icon_thumright:
