Just asking who all here are military vets. I will start it off. 5 years army. Did 2 years with 3rd Ranger batt and almost 3 with the 101st. Served in invasion of panama and desert storm. My mos was 11 bravo. So fellow vets , thank you all for your service and please post up. Have a happy 4th of july and may god bless you and your families. Sua sponta ( " Of their own accord".)
11B. 4 years active, 5 years reserve. 1 deployment to OIF X. Don't really miss it honestly but maybe that'll change as I get older.

You most likely will brother. The first 10 out , i didnt but when you reach that age where you know you are too old , you will reflect back and even the bad times you will chuckle about.

Army, E-5, 3 years....last draft, war ended 9 months later, pulled decent duty....heavy equipment operator, Ft. Dix, Ft. Leavenworth, Ft. Belvoir, Camp Casey, Korea, 2nd division....battalion (Lt.colonel) commanders "driver" 702 maintenance ......was told "when you get back to California, best to shed your uniform or you might get spit on ". I kept mine on, all the way home...my Oath still stands.

It saddens me to this day the way vietnam vets were treated. I was not old enough at the end of that war to have known what was going on. That being said , i thank you for your service and god bless you.

I don't usually go around advertising that I served,but i also don't have a problem letting people know if I feel the need to.
I also don't have an issue asking for a Military discount when I'm buying certain items,some place's give you a pretty decent discount all you have to do is ask,worst they can do is say no.
Example, I was in Florida this spring went to rent a car at the airport, ask the lady behind the counter if they gave a military discount she replied yes,when I told her that both my wife and myself had served she said well how about I give you my discount instead,and then she thanked both of us.
Ended up being around 400 dollars off by the time we were done,can't argue with that.
Anyways Thanks guys and gals for serving and don't be afraid to use some of the benefits that come from your service,no matter how small.
