Post by: BowBendr on April 24, 2011, 01:21:12 AM
I'm outta' here til next Sunday....maybe longer.
As soon as church is over in the morning, i'm headed for the hills for some peace and not so quiet gobbling.
May head to Ohio friday or so, we'll see.....

Happy hunting guys, shoot straight.  :z-guntootsmiley:

Well, i'm back.......
And as bad as it went, I should have stayed gone........

I started out last sunday with high hopes and it all went down-hill from there.
I took my cousins grandson out on Monday morning to take one of the rogue jakes out of that big gang of birds. He shot one about 1/2 hour after daylight, we jumped up and ran to the downed bird and tried to scare the rest off, well we did alright, and I never heard another gobble off that property the rest of the week.

Another property that usually holds birds real good turned up nothing. I later found out that the neighboring property owner that won't let me hunt, let 3 guys come in the previous week and killed 3 toms off his 5 acres, which really meant they shot the birds off my property...............

I even broke down and went and hunted an old public land spot that always has birds and got shut out there too.

7 straight days of high winds and pounding rain/storms have totally got me down. Worst season i've had in 20 years.
4 or 5 straight years of bad hatches have finally caught up with us I fear. We have 2 weeks left, i'm down but not out.
