Title: Don Watkins Coaxer Call
Post by: Sir-diealot on June 03, 2018, 09:41:08 AM
I was checking this out on Don Watkins Facebook page, neat little call. Might try to pick one up but not right away, have two other calls to get from members here over the next 2 or 3 months.

"The link you followed may have expired, or the page may only be visible to an audience you're not in."

Is it an open end wood block like Kenny Harrell's Allwood or Baby Big Mouth? What is the striking service?

Looks to be slate to me. Here is what he has to say about it. Edit: He says in video "you barely touch the slate"

"I've been waiting till things settled down a little since turkey season to post this.
I spent last winter trying to develop a soft call for turkey hunting. Went through several body types and a million strikers. Finally came up with a call I was very happy with and put it in the hands of a few friends to try this spring. It was a great success.
I call it a Coaxer Call. It's use is to call roosted hens and of course the gobbler as one. Second is to walk birds across a field to the gun. Third is just to provide confidence to keep a bird coming. I used it for all three this spring.
I'm also excited about it's use in the fall woods. Think it will be just as successful there."

I am sorry, but I do not know what a purr box is. I am still kinda new to many calls. Perhaps one of the others that can see it could answer that more Precisely than I. The best I could explain it is it is a very soft sounding call meant to coax turkeys in that last little bit.
