Well today was the last day of the season 12 minutes left as I type this. I am thankful that I was able to get out there with the help of some friends and thankful I was able to get a shot on the last day even though it was a clean miss, at least I had my chance. If my glasses had not been full of sweat and fog I think I would have got him, it was about a 30 yard shot but I was trying to aim through drips on my lenses. In retrospect I should not have taken the shot at all.
I am thankful for another reason, I have not tried to ground hunt anything (Sitting directly on the ground) because of the problems I have with my tailbone since my car accident in 2001, last night I grabbed my old hunting seat cushion and brought it along with me and when nothing was going where I had set up the blind at 4 in the morning by 8:30 I walked the blind up to the truck and grabbed it and found a tree to sit against.
It went much better than expected, though I was not there long as I did not like the setup as I did not know that part of the property well so I moved and was worried about what might be in the area behind where I was facing which was full of pine trees and could have hidden all kinds of things.
That is when I came upon the turkey mentioned above, I saw him but he did not see me. The problem was the head net was already soaked with sweat and fogging up my glasses from going to the spot mentioned above, but I decided to go prone and take the stuff off my back and see what would happen. I honestly think had it not been for the glasses issue I would have gotten him, he was quite vocal. When he flew away I saw there was another one down the hill as well. The way things were though I still should not have taken the shot, I did check for blood and walk a zigzag pattern for an hour where he went in to see if there was any blood but there was not. I am thankful it was a clean miss.
I am thankful I found this site, I have learned about a lot of neat calls I had never heard of before, bought a few calls and was given a wonderful long box that I will be using for years. Oh and I won the Ninja Hen Box call from Woodhaven, I am thankful for that as well.
Last but not least I am thankful for the friends I have made here, I know I can be a pain in the back side with all my questions but I have a curious mind and sometimes the ADD/ADHD makes me have to ask the same thing more than once in a different way so that it will get through my thick skull, thanks for being patient with me.
I can't wait to learn more from ya'll, thanks for having me.

Yep sure is. Wish I would have got him but he will be there next year if some yote does not get him. We are going to try to help with that by calling up there and I am taking my trapping course.
