Title: Why the velocity difference between Federal 20 gauge TSS #7 and #9
Post by: Remturkey on May 19, 2018, 12:50:34 PM
Does anyone know why Federal would load their 20 gauge TSS #7's at 1200 fps and their TSS #9's at 1000 fps and label them as reduced recoil?  I looked on Federal's website and they do not list a higher velocity 20 gauge #9 load either.  Would it have to do with penetration from the tiny #9's and safety?

Also is there any pellet count difference in the now discontinued Heavyweight #7, 1.5oz 20g load and the new TSS #7, 1.5 oz ??

I was fortunate to get my hands on a few boxes of both and was curious.  Thanks for any help

Can't answer the first question.  As for the second, the HW would contain more pellets.

Because Chuck Norris told them do it that way and one does not question Chuck Norris.

Who knows what Federal was thinking. Don't see any safety reasons from a load standpoint.
Could be for lower recoil for the young shooters?
Killed 2 this spring with the 9's , did ok. If I could get them faster I would.
Frankly would just have preferred the Hw7 loads . Didn't hurt that they were 2 bucks a shot cheaper either.
Who knows what Federal is thinking???
