Headed to S Central Kansas on Friday for a few days and wondering if anyone has any recent reports. Our season down here has been over for a few weeks and I'm excited to get back out. How's the hunting typically mid may? Still gobbling? Hens sitting yet?
Buddy in Northern KS killed one off the roost yesterday 10 minutes after LSL, crossed over to NE and had another one down before the hunting day was an hour old...
Both birds gobbling on the roost and on the ground, and obviously responsive to calls.

This is great news, headed to N Kansas tomorrow, hopefully they wanna play!
That sounds promising!
Beware of the ticks!!!
I watched a group of three Toms today stand under the same shade tree from 7:30 to 3:30 before I gave up on them....
Post breeding routines kicking in hard.
Holy crow Hooked - you are a patient man - I'm sorry your patience wasn't rewarded. My ADHD woulda killed me before that long passed.
3 down today for 4 hunters.
My dad and I ended up getting one apiece, and I managed to miss one on the last morning. Action was sporadic but where we were the weather wasn't that great, brutal hot and windy, then a ton of rain. After the rain passed and the temps dropped, they were on fire and we had a few great hunts.
Congrats! I was only able to get out to Kansas for two days last week, and the heat really seemed to shut everything down outside of the first and last hour of daylight. Unfortunately, that's when the birds I managed to find were all glued to hens. Of course, the hens would come visit me after the gobblers lost interest...figures. I was hoping to sneak back out there during the cool snap last weekend, but things just didn't work out.
