Hey all,
Finally got out May 10th and tagged a bird. I was set up in a field at the top of a hill with 2 decoys out in front and my back up against a large bush. After a couple hours of silence I took a walk down to the other side of the field which is bordered by heavy thorn bushes and then hardwoods beyond that. I let out a few yelps with the box call and got an answer from the woods. I tried to move through the thorn to the woods but it was no go so I sat tight on the edge. The bird moved closer but I could not see him through the bramble. Next thing I know he gobbles behind me back up the hill! After a few minutes of quiet I head up back the hill and make my way toward my decoys and sure enough there he is displaying to my dekes. I dropped down and did a Marine crawl on the back side of the ridge. At 25 yds I peek up and he's still there, I go to one knee put him in the crosshairs and let the Longbeard do its work. Work done, clock out - 9:20 AM. Not godzilla but he'll do. 18.5 lb./9 1/4" beard / 3/4" spurs
I really have to say thank you to this website for all the info I get from it. Thanks guys/gals.
