I"VE BEEN HUNTING ABOUT 40 AC. NOW FOR3 YEARS I HAVE KILLED SOME GOOD TOMS. I SEE HENS AND GOBBLERS BUT I"VE NOT SEEN ANY JAKES. IS IT THAT THEIR IS SO MANY TOMS THAT THEY KEEP THE JAKES RUN OFF. CANT FIGURE IT OUT...
40 acres is nothing to a turkey. Their home ranges can approach 2500 acres. Sounds like your 40 may be some of the better habitat and they've kept the jakes run off.

Jake's roam together and even with 40 ac. it's hard being in the right place to see them.. just like was said a turkey will cover a lot of ground ... holding habit makes a lot of difference .....sometimes jakes will run a 2 year old gobbler off a home area also....Jake's worry him to death....is the problem....
Unless you want to shoot one I wouldn't worry much about it. You wouldnt be shooting Mature birds if they arent somewhere near. It could just be timing. Toms running them off,etc...One thing about it whatever it is doubtful you can change it even if you wanted to other than maybe kill more Gobblers... :funnyturkey:
Sounds like you have longbeards so somewhere there's Jake's. I wouldn't worry
Count your blessings, sometimes them pesky jakes can mess up a good longbeard hunt.
Happened once to me and a buddy said he had 5 jakes run off 3 longbeard.
It's likely you're just not seeing them.
I often hear clusters on jakes on roost, but they don't actually show up.
Some seasons I don't see any jakes either. That don't mean they're not around though.
O WE SEEN LONG BEARDS AND HENS I"AM NOT WANTING TO KILL A JAKE I WAS JUST WONDING WHY I DON"T SEE THEM.. BUT THANKS GUYS....
