Title: South Missouri reports

anyone know or heard what the birds are doing in south MO thinking about making a run. I imagine it still may be a little early. what say you?

Cold spring has things about two weeks behind in my opinion. Turkeys for the most part are still in large mixed groups or a strutter with or without a look out with ten or twelve hens. Woods are just starting to green up in mature timber you can easily see a couple hundred yards.

They're spotty, which for me this morning meant company. Truck already sittin there didn't detour em a bit. But did hear 4 birds at a spot I've never been before. Dogged one all morning, gobbled from 5:30-8:30 and bam!!! Not another peep!!! Other gobbled for 15-20 real good and probably half hour on ground before going silent. Woods are way open too!! Our last week will be the best hunting.

I know a few pretty good turkey hunters who are having a heck of a time getting one to work.
This is around mid-missouri and northern Missouri. Of course the population isn't helping either being lower than I've seen since the late 70's. Throw in the late weather and its tough stuff.
