My brother in law and myself are headed out to western Oklahoma Saturday to spend a week chasing Rios. We are staying in Woodward, OK. Fort supply, Cooper WMA, Packsaddle, and Black Kettle are all within reasonable driving distance. Anyone been out there or currently in the area to know how the fires have been or if any areas have been messed up? I know the big fire is going in Dewey county next to the county we are in

Follow the link for each fire and scroll down to the maps button for detailed maps showing the current fire perimeter. These will get updated daily.
I have some family in Grady County and Kingfisher County, and they were posting pictures of the smoke from their homes that they were seeing.
Your going to be closer when you're at ft supply and Cooper. I wouldn't go to cantonat all.
Looks like I'm headed out there tomorrow to assist with them and I can post back here and report back. Don't have many details on area yet, but I think I'm headed that direction

Be safe.
Thanks. Sounds like we're headed to Woodward, wherever that is
I went to the Woodward/Ft Supply area a few years ago. Didn't bring 1 home with me but had a great trip. I found plenty of turkey sign and had Jakes come to me and pretty much every spot I tried. I just didn't want a Jake.
Good luck

Thanks everyone, I talked to a couple of the Game wardens in that area and they said it should be fine to come on out. Said Dewey County was getting it bad but that Woodward was ok. Supposed to get rain this weekend there, praying it holds true for all those involved!

Just be aware of your surroundings. I go out there every year, and was there for the opener. In fact Dewey county is part of the area I hunt.
They have not had enough rain to matter since October, things are super dry and fire can start and spread quickly. Most are smart enough not to through cigarette butts on the ground, but another thing that can start a fire is your truck's exhaust/catalytic converter. Don't drive or park in the tall, dead grass wherever you go.
Otherwise, you should be able to find birds out there. Don't be afraid to knock on doors and ask permission, not a lot of local hunters
Any of you from those parts of OK?
