Title: Hunting in snow
Post by: ogreknux on April 15, 2018, 06:27:08 PM
Seasons are set to begin 4/18. As of 8am this morning, we had 22.1 inches of snowfall during this storm, with another 10 to 15 inches expected by Monday morning. Anyone ever have luck hunting with similar conditions?

OK, so now I'll quit complaining about the one inch of snow I'll be hunting in tomorrow when my season starts. Good luck!

Archery opener here in SD wasn't quite that much but we had 1 foot already on ground and got another few inches the night prior. Birds weren't even phased. Same today. Got a pile of snow on Friday and doubled on both Saturday and Sunday.

I cannot imagine that, I've only hunted in real snow for deer once and that was this past December. If it is 50 degrees in turkey season then that is cool for this time of year. Snow and turkeys would be a really interesting hunt for a Southern guy

Well, at least we won't have to worry about skeeters tomorrow.

25 degrees with 2'" of snow in eastern Nebraska this morning.  Certainly been an interesting Spring this year.

I'm not even sure how to attack the birds this week... staying inside and drinking a few beers sounds a little more appealing.

You need one of those Devils Lake Snow Macines they use in North Dakota for Ice Fishing for lake Travel! I am from Wisconsin too so I am laughing with you not at you!
Good Luck this year!

Or the ticks!!!  23*, 15-25mph winds with 2" of fresh snow on the ground yesterday morning.

A friend and I were out scouting this morning in NE WI and we were seeing normal tom activity.  Hens were still perched in trees at 9am in most spots.  Fresh (deep) snow, clear and calm night, no tree cover yet... I think the hardest part is going to be getting to my Plan A spot undetected tomorrow morning.

Just saw they have in a Winter storm watch for tomorrow. Possible 3"-6" of snow. There is a winter strom warning a couple of counties north ...looking at a possible 5"-8" of snow there.   :TrainWreck1:
