Title: Gun rest
Post by: 17hornethunter on April 10, 2018, 12:31:41 AM
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good gun rest? Maybe something made by a smaller company. I always seem to not be able to get comfortable while waiting a long period of time for a gobbler to come in. Saw the knight products hands free thing , but was leaning more towards shooting sticks or some type of monopod. Thanks fellas !

I got the ticket for you, made by a small company : Really Right Stuff (RRS) SOAR. You can either get a Vyse or their new anvil head. Hands-free solution.

Geez...$1300 for gun tripod??? That's crazy!

HS Strut makes a little gun rest  for $10 that you strap to you opposite knee when your sitting.  My turkey vest has a little loop for the buttstock of my gun to rest in.  Using these my gun rests hands free in a close to shooting position.  Check it out...

Allen sling rest is slick I have one on a 20ga and it comes in really handy for all users. Dirt cheap on Amazon. A little enclosed rest built into the sling perfect to wedge between gun and the back of your knee.

I really liked this. Connects to the barrel so there is nothing extra you have to carry.

I used this last year. Doubles as a blind and gun rest.

This is my method, I've been using it for 8 years now, and love it. Once they are in side a certain distance I like to have my gun at the ready anyway, this pad helps to rest it on for those long sits. Only thing I wish the foam was a firmer material. I thought about cutting out some blue insulation board and stuffing it in there.

i ordered one of the hs strut knee rests yesterday.  i've always had to play this balancing game on my knee so hopefully it helps.  i'm also going to try and rig up some paracord or something on my vest to sling the butt stock in for hands free call running.
