Here is a sound file from the other night. 2 different trumpets by 2 different makers. Trumpet #1 is from 0-:39 and trumpet #2 is from :42-the end. Which one do you prefer and why?? Do you think they sound good?? Any constructive criticism you can give me is appreciated. I think I have sounded better and worse before. This is just what I had on my phone and I was bored at work. LOL

I think you sounded pretty good. I personally liked #1 better. A little more distinction between front and back end of the Yelp and nicer sounding clucks. Some rasp in it as well.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond Terry! I kind of felt the same way. It's funny though as I was playing them I felt like to my ear the second one sounded better. After listening to the recording I changed my mind and thought the first one sounded better. Definitely two different sounds. I will post up the makers in a couple days

One thing I've learned is to record myself playing. It's amazing how different you sound when you're not behind the trumpet.
For the record, both will kill turkey. I carry a second trumpet that gives me a similar sound to the second one on your recording as a switch up. If I feel the birds are pressured I tend to try high and clear because I don't hear many hunters using that sound in the woods.

They both sound good to me, but I actually thought the second one sounded better, a little bit brighter, more overtones. But you played that one a little louder too. The opening clucks on the second set sounded especially good to my ear.
I prefer the second one. Higher pitched and more hen like. As stated, both will kill a turkey.
2nd one for me too.
I liked your clucks on both.
I liked the clucks on both. 1st had a little more rasp / 2nd I thought had the potential to go into a deeper rollover, but you didn't take it there. A little more adjustment with the sound chamber hand, and I bet you could open up a wider tone range?
That's easier for me to type than do!! Lol. I think I have a tendancy to go too far that way - going for a deeper roll. Here is a clip:

I need to add a little of your sound to my play...

I have heard Eric play trumpet #2 with good rollover so I know he can do it.....liked the sound of your Misfire too.
