Title: Drilling Stock Winchester SX4
Post by: KentuckyLB on April 02, 2018, 01:46:53 PM
Looking for some opinions or best practice to perform this please, has anybody drilled a wood stock and forend cap to mount sling swivels. I have basic tools at home drills, bits and so on just don't want to mess up a new gun. I am mechanically inclined also and no how to use hand tools before some one asked. Thanks. :icon_thumright:

I did a wood stock and fore end set on an H&R gun yesterday. Drill a practice hole in a spare block of wood first before drilling your stock to check and see how easily the screw goes in so you wont crack your stock by using a drill bit too small. Not difficult at all.

Also, use a punch or nail to indent/mark the spot you want to drill so your bit wont wander off when you start drilling and scratch the finish
