I am itching to take my wife out for the first time, question is, Would you rather hunt a lone tom , or a tom with 8/9 hens. last option is to hunt an area with a larger amount of birds, but you don't know what will come in. Let the games begin
single bird without hens would be my choice.
No brained. Lone Tom with no hens
Taking a first timer I'd go with option three, area with more birds. I still like my odds plus I figure the first timer would get to see and hear more action.
If I'm hunting solo I go to the lone gobbler.
If alone, I agree. I like the lone tom with the hens if I get my dirty B decoy out. I love the "all mine" attitude of boss gobblers too :turkey2:
Hard choice to say if she has patience to sit and be quite go for the third option. If not go for the love sick single tom.
She will wait it out. She is the only one in the family to never shoot a Tom for her first bird. We all shot jakes for our first bird. She will be the Undisputed Queen of the family when she does. It will be her choice for her hunt. If she can get one with me calling it in with my own call, I would probably be flying high all season. :funnyturkey:
My choice would be single tom with out hens
I'd go with the large amount of Birds option!! My luck a coyote would get my lone gobbler the evening before if I picked the lone gobbler option.. :icon_thumright:
