Title: Taxidermist
Post by: greenheadIL on April 20, 2011, 10:43:37 AM
Ok guys killed an awesome Rio in Kanas and was wondering if I could get some suggestions for some good taxidermists with prices.  I live in Illinois, so something close would be awesome, but if  have to ship out so be it.

Thanks.

If I was you I would go to Taxidermy.net and do a search for turkeys. You should get alot of hits for those who show their turkey mounts. Or you could post there and ask about anybody close to you. Good luck it's hard to find a good Turkey taxidermist. Not every taxidermist, good or bad, does good turkey work.

I'd use McMicken, but I am in Georgia.

There was a ton of good looking mounts at the show in Nashville.  Does the show program provide the names of the taxidermists that did the work?  The NWTF website or its personnel might be able to provide info.

A friend killed his best Eastern last year, long beard, long spurs, good body weight...and a poor looking full body mount.  He is sick about the lost opportunity on his best bird and the money he spent on it.

My brother sent a bird to Bird's Only Taxidermy. His site is loaded with some of the most impressive turkey mount pictures I've seen. You'll have to ship, but it looks like it would be worth it.

Brad Laker is in Illinios.     His web is www.bradsbirds.com    Of course I would be happy to do it if you wanted to send it to VA.

Who ever you pick, just make sure they use a freeze dried head. They look sooooo much better.
