How aggressive do you get with the stone?  I have a hard time getting a sound I like out of a ceramic.  Maybe I'm just not conditioning it right.

Yea the stone does great on the ceramic and gives it good friction. On the stoned aluminum it seems like scotch brite does give it more bite than just cleaning with alcohol even tho it removes the stoned element

I have came to the conclusion that regular old aluminum is the best choice. I usually scratch off the coating on All the fancy aluminum's
