Title: Anyone hunt turkeys with a Remington model 31?
Post by: Horner on April 19, 2011, 08:31:15 PM
Hey just wondering if anyone is using a Remington, model 31 to chase turkeys with, or anything else.

I just bought one and was wondering what you guys think of them.

If I remember right the Model 31 is an old design pump that ejects out the bottom like a Browning BPS (correct me guys if I'm wrong).  I think they were well built shotguns...the military used them.  Does it have a full choke?
Lots of these did. You should be able to shoot 1 1/2 oz. , 2 3/4 " 5's or 6's lead shot loads if it's in good tight condition (12 gauge)

Don't know about hunting but you see alot of them in the target world.  Folks like them because the barrel screws on to the action.  I have been about to thread some of them to take chokes also.  I think if we can choke it you should be able to make a good hunting gun out of it.   :anim_25:

This one I just got is in 16 ga......with a 26" modified barrel.  I am going to use it this season when all is said and done.  I just will limit my range, but I will put it on paper first.

I have been wanting an old wingmaster, but I lucked into this baby so I snagged it.  I can't wait to get it so I can throw some lead down her and see how she does.

I am only 31, but the guns of yesteryear are really attractive to me........
