Title: Looking for a tube for 12ga M2
Post by: Life of Riley on March 21, 2018, 01:46:40 PM
I'm looking for suggestions for a choke for my 12ga M2 28" barrel. Non ported preferred. Flush or extended doesn't matter. I will put the range time in after purchasing. I shoot longbeard 3" 6's

Thanks :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

Give Jeb's a look.  I run their ported .650 head hunter in my SBEII with 26" barrel, and it's deadly @ 40 yds with 3.5" long beard #5s.  Benelli's typically like a tight constriction.  I shot a .665  Indian Creek before but just wasn't happy with the pattern.  Guys in the Benelli forum seem to do well with the IC chokes.  You just have to pattern and see what it likes.  It just unfortunately costs money!!

same here, Rob knows benelli's but I shoot a 655 out of mine with magblends and it is pretty sweet.

Yeah, I just remember that Rob recommends .660 in the 28" barrel.  I'm sure either would give a good pattern though.

you are correct,  I shoot a 26" barrel so it may be tad different. When I originally called him he recommended both but wanted me to start with the 655, granted he just got done lengthening the forcing cone and porting it not sure if that makes much of a different.

Even though Benelli's are slightly under bored, and like a tighter constriction than normal, you might go up to a .665 with your 28" I have had great results from a .660 Sumtoy and a .665 IC in 24 & 26" bbl's respectively. Shells were WIN LB 6's & H-13 7's.

I ordered a carlsons .665 non por ted extended turkey choke. I'll get to the range in the next week. Will test LB 4,5,6, and mag blend. All in 3 inch shells.
