I took my nephew Jacob, 11, turkey hunting this morning to the horse ranch. We got set up and heard a few clucks as we were setting up so we knew there was at least a couple turkeys. About 10 minutes later the gobblers let loose. I leaned over and asked Jake what he thought of that and he said " I aint never heard that many turkeys before". I was grinning inside from ear to ear. It was finally getting light and I thought Jacobs dad, Dan, was more nervous than Jake. The turkeys started flying down all around us and right in our lap. One of the Jakes did the mean walk straight to my jake decoy. When he got next to it I told Jake he could shoot anytime. Plink the pellet gun went off and the turkey took off. It looked like he hit the feathers just behind the head of the turkey. No damage to the turkey except missing a few feathers. We laughed about it and I reiterated to him that everybody misses and that I had done it myself right there in that spot. Then on the way out we made it fun for him and let him shoot a Bull frog. I think he had a good time even though he missed a turkey, at least he had a smile on his face.

Sounds like a great day!!
That would be a tough shot for a youngster. I've heard of folks hunting them over there with pellet guns.
Maybe next time.
Sounds like your nephew had a great time. :happy0064: :happy0064: Hunting with a pellet gun sure brings back some great memories.

Brother, I have a hard enough time killing them with a shotgun much less a pellet gun! Really glad to hear that the youth had a great time! :z-guntootsmiley:
